AFIA: ATPG-Guided Fault Injection Attack on Secure Logic Locking

چکیده

The outsourcing of the design and manufacturing integrated circuits has raised severe concerns about piracy Intellectual Properties illegal overproduction. Logic locking emerged as an obfuscation technique to protect outsourced chip designs, where circuit netlist is locked can only be functional once a secure key programmed. However, Boolean Satisfiability-based attacks have shown break logic locking, simultaneously motivating researchers develop more countermeasures. In this paper, we present novel fault injection-based attack any that relies on stored secret key, denote AFIA, ATPG-guided Fault Injection Attack. proposed based sensitizing bit primary output while injecting faults at few other lines block propagation targeted bit. AFIA very effective in determining there exists stuck-at pattern detects 1 (or 0) line. average complexity number injected for linear with size \(\mathcal {K}\) requires test patterns determine K. fewer sensitize output, compared \(2\mathcal {K}-1\) differential analysis illustrated our previous work.

Mitigating SAT Attack on Logic Locking

Logic locking is a technique that has been proposed to protect outsourced IC designs from piracy and counterfeiting by untrusted foundries. A locked IC preserves the correct functionality only when a correct key is provided. Recently, the security of logic locking is threatened by a new attack called SAT attack, which can decipher the correct key of most logic locking techniques within a few ho...

Logic Locking for Secure Outsourced Chip Fabrication: A New Attack and Provably Secure Defense Mechanism

Chip designers outsource chip fabrication to external foundries, but at the risk of IP theft. Logic locking, a promising solution to mitigate this threat, adds extra logic gates (key gates) and inputs (key bits) to the chip so that it functions correctly only when the correct key, known only to the designer but not the foundry, is applied. In this paper, we identify a new vulnerability in all e...

ATPG by Fault Sampling

ATPG (Automatic Test-Pattern Generation) is the process of finding an input pattern that will sensitize a specific fault, and then propagate the effect of this fault to a primary output of the device. In this paper, the algorithms of ATPG for combinational circuit are briefly introduced. It includes D-algorithm, Basic ATPG Algorithm, PODEM algorithm and testability measurements, finally the tec...

Real Time Fault Injection Using Logic Emulators

A hardware based approach to Fault Emulation independent of the logic emulation system in use has been developed and is presented in this paper. Fault injection into a targetted circuit is made possible with the introduction of additional logic. The stuck-at-fault model is simulated with the method described here, which may also be used for multiple faults and bridging faults [1]. This discussi...
